FAMSCO Current Needs - Cash donations

Cash donations are always welcome and are used to pay shipping costs. FAMSCO is a 100% volunteer organization and has minimal operating overhead expenses. The great majority of any cash donation will directly benefit the disadvantaged communities to which FAMSCO sends aid.

FAMSCO Current Needs – Medical Equipment and Supplies

FAMSCO is always pleased to accept donations of medical equipment and supplies that are in good repair and usable condition and fall within the guidelines given below. Donors should review the following information before making any donations:

• FAMSCO does not accept donations of pharmaceuticals
  
• FAMSCO does not accept donations of expired goods or those about to expire (e.g., infant formula). While we recognize that such goods are often perfectly usable, government regulations in recipient countries generally prohibit the importation of expired goods, and their inclusion in a shipment potentially jeopardizes the entire shipment.
  
• Bulky, relatively low value items are in general not accepted because the cost to ship them equals or exceeds their value. Standard manual hospital beds are an example of this kind of equipment. Please contact FAMSCO if you are in doubt about your donation.
  
• Documentation for specialized and/or high-tech items should be provided whenever possible.
  
• FAMSCO does not accept donations of non-functional equipment, equipment which needs repair to be usable nor equipment missing a critical part or piece.

FAMSCO Current Needs – Emergency Vehicles

FAMSCO is always looking for fire trucks in good working condition. The most useful trucks for developing countries are pumper-tankers.

Ambulances are frequently needed by FAMSCO. The most desirable ambulances are those with diesel engines. Also, four-wheel drive ambulances are highly desirable.

FAMSCO Current Needs – Firefighting and Emergency equipment

Turnout gear, hoses, nozzles, boots, stretchers, ladders, jaws of life, respirators, defibrillators and other firefighting and emergency equipment and tools are always needed. Equipment should be in usable condition and/or good working order.
